Activity in the services sector - the biggest part of the economy - continued to expand in November, although at a slower pace than expected.

The CIPS/RBS Purchasing Managers’ Index edged down from 56.1 in October to 55.8 last month as respondents to the survey noted a healthy level of new business. A reading above 50 indicates an increase over the previous month, below 50 a contraction.
