Tassos Papadopoulos, the former Cyprus president, has withdrawn a long-running libel suit against the Financial Times after mutual agreement on a statement agreed in court.

The case concerned a report published on July 27, 2002 following an FT investigation of the Belgrade government’s illegal transfer to Cyprus in the 1990s of billions of dollars in cash in order to avoid UN sanctions on trade with Yugoslavia.
