London equities rallied by the close on Thursday following sharp losses during morning trade as investors responded with resilience to the terrorist attacks on the capital.

The FTSE 100 index closed 71.3 points or 1.4 per cent lower at 5,158.3, having been 207.5 points or 4 per cent lower earlier in the day. The mid-cap FTSE 250 ended 109 points or 1.4 per cent lower at 7,387.9.
