UBS axes Wuffli in surprise shake-up

Peter Wuffli was last night ousted as chief executive of UBS, raising questions about the strategy of the Swiss banking group.

The board said that it had decided not to accept the proposal by Marcel Ospel, that Mr Wuffli, 49, should succeed him as UBS's chairman. Mr Wuffli is handing over as chief executive to his deputy Marcel Rohner immediately.
