Greek minister sacked amid pension scandal

Savvas Tsitouridis, Greece's social affairs minister, was sacked at the weekend amid a deepening scandal over state pension funds' purchases of Greek government bonds at inflated prices.

More than 20 state-controlled funds paid face value or a premium for bonds quoted at a steep discount by electronic vendors, in what appears to have been a long-running fraud carried out by Greek-owned brokerage firms.
