‘Novice’ Cameron plots counter-attack

David Cameron will argue on Wednesday he has the “character and judgment” to counter Gordon Brown’s greater political experience, in his closing speech to a Conservative conference overshadowed by the global financial crisis.

The Tory leader will seek to regain the political momentum after a difficult week in which his party has often appeared wrong-footed by the scale and speed of the chaos on the markets.
