Southampton’s future takes turn for the worse

The future of insolvent Southampton football club took a turn for the worse after the Football League docked it 10 points, a move that ensures the Championship club will be relegated.

Begbies Traynor, appointed administrators earlier this month, hoped to avoid the sanction the league applies to insolvent clubs by arguing that it was the parent company – Southampton Leisure Holdings – rather than the club itself that had entered administration.
