Sir, I largely agree with John Murray Brown (“Irish banking sector mired in borrowing costs”, February 9) but must take issue with his statement that the main reason for the Irish banking crisis is the property market collapse. The world has stumbled into a pothole, but Ireland is falling into an abyss, entirely owing to the rash decision by the governing elite to enter the eurozone.
