Housebuilders resort to risky incentives

Housebuilders are resorting to ever-pricier and potentially riskier incentives to sell new homes.

Many of the incentives come down to cash discounts for new buyers. Persimmon has a “live free for a year” offer where it pays its buyers’ bills, including council tax, mortgage and utilities.
