Colorado’s oldest newspaper shuts down

The Rocky Mountain News will appear on newstands for the last time on Friday, becoming the latest casualty of the newspaper industry’s crumbling business models.

Staff learned that they were working to their final deadline on Thursday as Rich Boehne, chief executive of EW Scripps, told the newsroom that after 150 years in operation “Denver can’t support two newspapers any longer.”
