Sponsors urged to repair Tour image

Sponsors of the Tour de France should use their financial influence to repair the tarnished image of cycling, according to CSC, the American software company and one of the sport’s backers.

Guy Hains, European president of CSC, is critical of companies that are threatening to pull out of cycling in the wake of recent doping scandals. “We’re a commercial enterprise, we’re not evangelists for cycling,” he said.
