US Residents and personnel at Fort Hood military base turned to their mobile phones, Thursday’s shooting spread.
The base is the largest single employer in Texas and is home to about 50,000 soldiers. Established in 1942, it is about halfway between Austin and Waco, and stretches across 339 square miles in central Texas.
