Harley-Davidson sees rocky road ahead

Harley-Davidson said it was cutting 1,000 jobs, idling four plants and slashing its sales forecast for the year due to lacklustre demand for its high-end motorcycles.

The Milwaukee-based company said its second-quarter retail sales were 30 per cent lower in the second quarter than a year ago globally, and down 35 per cent in the US.
