Carlsberg will double its share capital to fund its acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle by raising Dkr30.5bn (€4.1bn) in Denmark’s largest rights issue.

However, the scale of the issue forced the Danish brewer to price the 76.28 million new B shares at Dkr400, representing a 40 per cent discount to Wednesday’s close.
