A third of managers ‘too afraid to be off ill’

One in three managers is afraid to take time off when ill, according to a report that says a “work while you’re sick” culture is taking hold of businesses.

Barely half the 1,511 managers surveyed for the Chartered Management Institute said staff who took sick leave were treated sympathetically, while 42 per cent said sickness rates were rising in their organisation.
