In the end, what I didn’t know turned out to be much more important than what I did. This is, of course, almost the definition of school, except that I wasn’t the pupil: I was deciding which school my children should attend.

I have done it twice now, once in London, once in New York. And each time I have learned something new. In an ideal world, when you move countries (or even cities for that matter) and you have a family, you would be allowed to “rent” space in different schools in the same the way that you are temporarily housed in corporate apartments while you find your feet and figure out where you want to live.
