Latest Brussels trade offer ‘inadequate’

The European Union on Friday tried to revive the Doha round of trade talks by offering further cuts in European farm tariffs, in the face of disappointment from the US and continued resistance from France.

Peter Mandelson, the EU trade commissioner, argued that the Union's “substantive, comprehensive and credible” offer “should bridge the sharply divergent interests in the membership of the World Trade Organisation”.
