BarCap is held back by legacy of toxic assets

Barclays Capital is a tale of two banks. One half of the investment bank is thriving as global markets recover from the crisis. But it is being held back by toxic assets left over from the credit boom.

The question is whether BarCap can generate enough income from new business to avoid being overwhelmed by losses on the bad assets.
