Vattenfall drops plan for nuclear investment

Vattenfall, the state-owned Swedish power group, has dropped plans to sell its domestic electricity distribution business and invest in UK nuclear power amid a political storm over the proposals.

Reports this week that the utility, one of Europe’s largest, intended to sell critical parts of the Swedish power grid to finance investment in UK nuclear power stations drew fierce political criticism.
