Fraud cases hit record – and worse to come

A record number of fraud cases reached the courts in the first six months of this year, with the numbers set to rise further in the recession, KPMG’s forensic auditors said on Sunday.

The 163 cases were the highest in a six-month period during the 21 years the accounting firm has run a “fraud barometer”.
