UK museums see visits rise amid budget cuts

More than a third of UK museums and galleries have received more visitors since last autumn’s intensification of the economic downturn – in spite of having to deal with cuts in their budgets.

A survey by The Art Fund, the independent charity, found that 35 per cent of respondents saw year-on-year increases in visitor numbers from last September to March, with many reporting record February school half-term figures.
