Branson lobbies for domestic Indian airline

Sir Richard Branson on Monday said he was renewing a push for government permission to set up a domestic carrier in India to tap into one of the world’s fastest growing aviation markets.

The billionaire Virgin Group chairman, who was part of a British business delegation accompanying Gordon Brown, the UK prime minister, on a visit to India, has long wanted to enter the country’s aviation business but has been thwarted by rules barring foreign carriers from owning domestic airlines.
