Nordea , the Nordic region’s biggest bank, reported a 5 per cent drop in third-quarter net profits on Wednesday but the results were better than analysts had expected.

The Stockholm-based lender, which has branches across the Nordic region, saw an increase in loan losses compared with last year – but at a lower level than analysts had feared.
