Mixed signals from Kerry on trade with EU

Pascal Lamy, the European Union's departing trade commissioner, recently highlighted a remarkable continuity in the EU-US trade relationship.

He recalled how, when he walked into his office on his first day in the job in 1999, his first phone call came from Charlene Barshefsky, then US trade representative, who told him to “do something about Airbus”.
