Hot weather fails to lift John Lewis

Shoppers stocking up on sandals for trips to the beach were not enough to prevent sales from falling at John Lewis last week, as consumers continued to steer clear of homeware and electrical goods.

Overall sales at the John Lewis department store were down 2.9 per cent in the week ending June 6, compared with the same period last year. For the year to date, sales are down 5.1 per cent.
