Gordon Brown’s controversial capital gains tax changes have created a “huge opportunity” for the Tories to woo back the corporate vote, the party said on Monday, vowing to throw its weight behind the intensifying campaign against the shake-up.
In another development that could raise the political pressure on the prime minister for a rethink, MPs on the influential trade and industry select committee will debate this week whether to summon ministers to explain the changes.
