Central Asia agrees on plan to improve links

Members of an eight-nation central Asia forum have agreed a joint development plan to improve transport links and remove barriers to trade and investment in the land-locked but strategic region.

At a meeting in the west Chinese city of Urumqi, ministers from the Central Asia Regional Economic Co-operation (Carec) forum agreed to work more closely on challenges such as environmental protection and to develop a cadre of officials skilled in regional co-operation.
