Obama wins Mississippi primary

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama beat rival Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night in the Mississippi primary, as exit polls pointed to divisions between the state’s heavily black electorate and its white voters, who backed Mrs Clinton.

With 99 per cent of precincts reporting, returns showed Mr Obama with 61 per cent, with 37 per cent for Mrs Clinton, according to CNN.
