CDS laws still loom, Euro banks warned

Investment banks are mistaken if they hope an agreement to set up a separate European clearing house for the huge credit derivatives market will end the threat of new laws to govern the industry, a leading legislator has said.

Pervenche Berès, who chairs the powerful economics and monetary committee in the European Parliament, told the Financial Times on Monday she did not intend to withdraw legislative amendments that she has introduced.
