SIA rules out higher offer for China Eastern

Singapore Airlines ruled out raising its offer for a stake in China Eastern Airlines yesterday, clearing the way for what amounts to a hostile takeover attempt from state-controlled rival Air China.

Air China and its parent China National Aviation Corp convinced CEA's minority shareholders to reject a bid by SIA and Temasek, the Singapore state investment agency, to buy 24 per cent of CEA for HK$3.80 per share.
