Invasion fears push oil to record high of $84

Crude oil prices hit an all-time high of $84 a barrel Friday amid concerns that Turkey might invade northern Iraq. Stocks also fell rapidly before the peak winter season.

Base and precious metals made gains during the week on a weak US dollar and positive sentiment emerging from London Metal Exchange week, the sector’s main annual event.
