Stock markets tumble on bank fears

Asian share markets extended the global sell off on Tuesday as a spate of dividend cuts and faltering financial companies shook investor confidence around the world.

HSBC shares tumbled 19.2 per cent, dragging the Hang Seng index down by 2.8 per cent after losing 4 per cent on Monday. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dropped 1 per cent in morning trading.
