Belgrade prepares for Karadzic backlash

Police in riot gear took up positions around the Serbian capital Belgrade on Sunday, in a show of strength aimed at preventing a violent nationalist backlash over the expected extradition of Radovan Karadzic to The Hague this week.

The former Bosnian Serb political leader faces charges of genocide and other crimes at the United Nations tribunal for the former Yugoslavia over his role in the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.
