The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, headed by Khaleda Zia, conceded defeat Thursday night in this week’s election allaying fears that an earlier rejection of the results might lead to violence.
Sheikh Hasina Wajed, leader of the victorious Awami League-led coalition, had offered the promise of power-sharing to Mrs Zia in a bid to persuade her to accept the results of the poll.
