Bloomsbury Publishing
Bloomsbury Publishing is best known for JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books, and other recent successes include Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner. The company has been encouraged by investors and analysts to spend some of the accumulated wealth from publishing the seven Harry Potter books, and in December said it had bought John Wisden & Co, publisher of the annual cricket “almanack”.

Business Post Group
Business Post has grown to become one of the largest independent express delivery companies in the UK. It has three divisions – parcels, mail and specialist services. Parcels is the largest division, accounting for 59 per cent of revenues. Mail, comprising UK Mail, is licensed to offer mail services throughout the UK. Specialist services comprises the group’s same-day and palletised goods delivery activities.

Dechra Pharmaceuticals comprises six businesses operating under two divisions, pharmaceuticals and services. Both divisions are focused on the veterinary market with a key area of specialisation being on products for companion animals. Its product development is focused entirely on prescription-only veterinary medicines for dogs, cats and horses.

Telecom Plus
Telecom Plus supplies utility services such as gas, electricity and broadband to residential and business customers. In 2002 it launched the Utility Warehouse Discount Club, which supplies more than 200,000 households throughout the UK, on one monthly bill. Telecom Plus said this month that it was benefiting from promotional initiatives taken over the last year to stimulate growth.
