Wall Street falls as GDP figures disappoint

Wall Street stocks fell for the first time in three sessions on Thursday as investors digested disappointing macro-economic data that showed improved but weaker-than-expected growth and rising unemployment.

According to the Department of Commerce, the US economy grew at an annual rate of 1.9 per cent in the second quarter – faster than earlier in the year but slower than economists were expecting.
