AstraZeneca, the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceuticals group, on Thursday announced 1,400 job cuts across Europe as it revealed it had won a reprieve in the battle over its blockbuster asthma drug Pulmicort with a generic rival.
The redundancies announced on Thursday are in addition to the 7,600 announced in July last year and will see AstraZeneca close facilities at Porrino in Spain, Destelbergen in Belgium and Umea in northern Sweden.
