The demand by pension funds for long-term, inflation-linked assets has created the makings of a bubble in UK government bonds.

But with real yields of 50-year index-linked gilts plunging to record lows in January and 10-year government bonds selling cheaper than 30-year bonds, pension funds are looking for other asset classes that have a potential to match their liabilities.
