Non-executive directors receive hefty pay increases

Falling share prices and a wave of profit warnings and dividend cuts failed to prevent non-executive directors of FTSE 100 companies from receiving hefty pay increases last year.

Fees paid to non-executive directors at all FTSE 100 companies rose 6.3 per cent on average in the 12 months to July 2008, climbing to £57,056, according to Incomes Data -Services, the pay specialists.
