Israeli police said on Friday they had widened their corruption probe against Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, who is now also suspected of double-billing for trips during his tenure as mayor of Jerusalem and trade minister.
Mr Olmert is already under intense pressure to leave office as a result of the escalating police probe into his financial conduct. His reputation received a severe blow in May, when a former fundraiser for the prime minister alleged that Mr Olmert had received envelopes stuffed with cash from US Jewish donors, who, he claimed, also paid for lavish trips abroad.
