Iran finds new ways to beat sanctions

The Bush administration probably was not thinking about Shrek, Elmo and Spongebob Square Pants when it started warning international banks against doing business with Iran.

But soft toys – along with fridges, textiles, toasters and clocks – have all been hit by the US-led pressure on banks with links to Iran, which has seen lenders from Frankfurt and London to Beijing and Dubai sever ties with companies in Tehran.
