Ukraine wrestles with parliamentary crisis

Ukraine’s pro-Western President Viktor Yushchenko appeared to be leaning towards dissolving a hostile parliament on Wednesday, saying attempts to reach a compromise agreement with a Moscow-leaning coalition in the legislature led by his arch-rival had failed.

Speaking on Ukrainian television, Mr Yushchenko said that attempts had failed to find common ground on foreign policy and “key priorities of national interest”.
