Portfolio investment: Strong growth boosts region

Strong economic growth and convergence with the eurozone are helping bring parts of eastern and central Europe ever closer to the mainstream of financial markets, although the region remains highly diverse and fragmented.

While most of foreign portfolio investment is directed into central Europe and Russia, the profiles of the Balkans and former Soviet Republics are rising, partly because of political developments.
