Iranian president visits Syria

Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad, Iran’s president, arrives in Syria on Thursday on his first bilateral foreign trip, cementing ties with the other Middle Easter state facing intense western pressure.

Mr Ahmadi-Nejad on Wednesday stressed the two countries’ “close views” on regional and international issues. “We are against any kind of bullying, intervention and interference from alien powers,” he said.
