SunGard buys commodity risk manager

SunGard, a software and IT company, on Tuesday highlighted the increasing focus on risk management systems in securities and commodity trading by buying ICE Risk, a position-keeping system for the commodity markets, from IntercontinentalExchange of the US.

Regulatory pressure to safeguard the financial system against future shocks has led to an increase in the use of risk management systems, including IT systems that allow banks and brokers to assess their exposures to various markets in “real time”.
