Banks plump the capital cushions

Lehman Brothers is not alone in trying to sell off its asset management business. Investment bankers in the US and Europe have been buzzing around trying to find potential buyers for other banks looking to sell their units.

Disposing of fund management arms is an obvious way for many banks hit by the credit crisis to plump up capital cushions.
