NHS to disclose management spending

The Department of Health has bowed to pressure from MPs to publish how much it and the NHS spends on external management ­consultants.

The National Audit Office estimated three years ago that the NHS spends £600m on consultants and that the health service had been responsible for a third of a sharp increase in consultancy expenditure during the previous three years.
