Turn in sentiment begins in Hong Kong

A number of Asian equity markets recovered on Tuesday after financial stocks were boosted by hopes of an emergency rate cut from the Federal Reserve after US government efforts to bail out the US financial system were blocked.

India’s Sensex and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong ended with modest gains, while Singapore pared a 5 per cent drop to close just 0.1 per cent lower – all responding positively to a turnround in European trade.
