When leaders of some of the world’s largest countries, businesses and non-governmental organisations made their annual pilgrimage to the World Economic Forum six months ago, few things summed up the challenges facing “Davos man” better than a sobering report released on the eve of the event.
None of those represented – chief executives, politicians, regulators, campaigners or the media – was trusted to solve the economic crisis they had come to debate, according to an annual survey of “informed publics” undertaken by Edelman, the communications consultancy.
