Strike threat to 11th-hour tax returns

The processing of last-minute tax returns, affecting millions of people, could be hit by a one-day strike by civil servants at the end of this month, the biggest civil service union has warned.

Some 280,000 members of the Public and Commercial Services union are being balloted for industrial action in a row over job cuts, pay and privatisation of services.
